MLSE Foundation was recognized at the Beyond Sport Summit and Awards at One World Observatory in New York on Wednesday, receiving the Sport for Sustainable Cities & Communities award for the Regent Park Athletic Grounds. The 2017 Beyond Sport Global Awards celebrate, support, raise awareness and provide funding for ways sport is being used to help make the Global Goals for sustainable development a reality.

On Thursday, May 5th, 2016, over 500 young professionals gathered at the Capitol Event Theatre for the 3rd Annual Regent Park Gala. Hosted by the 3TO6TEAM and the MLSE Foundation, this gala benefit raises funds to keep sustainable after-school recreational programs in the neighbourhood of Regent Park.

Last week, we joined Maestro Fresh-Wes and the hardworking and passionate people from 3TO6TEAM for the 3rd Annual Regent Park Gala: a night of revelry in support of after-school programming for kids and youth in the Regent Park neighbourhood.

“They were very happy. The fans didn’t want No. 1 again. They wanted No. 4. They’ve had three No. 1’s and it hasn’t worked so far,” Clark smiles, relating the story to Sportsnet at Thursday’s Regent Park Gala, a fundraiser that creates athletic opportunities for Toronto’s youth.

The Regent Park Athletic Grounds will have its official launch on June 29th in Toronto. The new space includes a new hockey rink, which was already open this past winter, a basketball court and a track that encircles a large field that can be converted for sports like soccer and cricket. The field was funded in part by MLSE Foundation and will provide a much needed large multi-purpose sports and recreation area.
